What to Expect in Session 21/22

Covid-19 Measures - Updated Wednesday 12th January 2022

We hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing break and would like to wish you all a happy, healthy and successful 2022!

The health and wellbeing of our students and staff remains our top priority. As a result of the increasing transmission rates of the new Omicron variant, we want to reassure you that the college continues to follow all Scottish Government health and safety guidance.

We continue to encourage staff and students to work from home.  When students return to learning on Monday 10 January this will initially be online and will be reviewed every two weeks based on Scottish Government guidelines at the time.  Please keep an eye on our website, social media and your college email to keep up to date.

The First Minister has announced further tightening of national coronavirus restrictions.

Vaccines

Booster vaccinations are available to everyone over 18. To be eligible, it should be at least 12 weeks since your second vaccination and at least 28 days since a previous positive PCR test - Where to go for your vaccination and who can get a booster.

A key update of note is that the definition of being “fully vaccinated” on covid passports will also change from Monday 17 January. The First Minister announced that must include a booster if your second vaccination dose was more than four months ago. The NHS Scotland Covid status app will be refreshed in line with that.

Testing

The Scottish Government and health experts advise everyone to test regularly and before meeting with anyone from another household. Free lateral flow kits are available from Reception at both college campuses. You can also collect from many pharmacies or order directly to your home online.

Isolating

If you have symptoms or test positive for COVID-19 you must isolate. The rules on self-isolation for individuals with Covid and close contacts have changed - NHS Inform has all the latest self-isolation guidance.

International Travel

The Scottish Government has announced that 11 countries have been removed from the international travel red list and published guidance for international travel and quarantine.  This is updated regularly so please keep checking for the latest news.

All international travellers entering the UK must take a pre-departure test before coming to the UK and a PCR test on or before day two of arrival; self-isolating until a negative result is received.

We will keep you informed as further government and sector guidance is shared with us. Please continue to stay safe and well.
